Boa Ventura is a very small Montessori nursery in a detached house with a garden in São Pedro do Estoril. It takes children aged 2 to 6, full or part time. The school says it has been officially recognised by the Ministry of Education and the local council since 1995.
It is an English-speaking school, and it says it welcomes “children of all nationalities”. Children who don’t speak English get help to learn it. There are two small groups, each with its own class teacher and an assistant, and the school says there are no more than six children per qualified teacher.
The school invites families to visit before the admission process starts. To apply, you complete, sign and date an enrolment form, and a child is accepted once the school confirms in writing. Hours are 9:00 to 12:00 (mornings) or 9:00 to 15:30 (full time, with a packed lunch from home), and children in the Rainbow Class must be fully toilet trained.
The school publishes its fees, but its two websites show different figures and neither says which school year they cover. The details are in the note below.
