Externato Florinda Leal is a small school in São João do Estoril, founded in 1920 and owned by a non-profit social institution (IPSS) dating from 1911. It takes about 160 children, from 5 months in the creche to age 10 at the end of 1.º ciclo, and is a short walk from the sea.
From age 3, children have PE, music and English; from age 4 they also have ICT. The school mentions outdoor learning where possible, a sensory room for the creche and a teaching garden. It is open from 07h30 to 19h00, all year except the second half of August, and the website has an English page.
Good to know for international families
Teaching is in Portuguese. The website has an English page but does not describe support for children who are new to Portuguese, so ask the school. Monthly fees for 2026/2027 are published (see below).
