St. Julian’s is a British international school in Carcavelos, set between the beach and Lisbon. At its heart is an 18th-century palace with gardens, sports fields and woodland around it. The school’s history goes back to 1932.
Families can choose between two pathways. The English Curriculum runs from Nursery to Year 13, with GCSEs in Year 11 and then the IB Diploma or the IB Career-related Programme. The Bilingual Curriculum teaches the Portuguese National Curriculum in both English and Portuguese from age 6 to 15, and then joins the same GCSE and IB route.
If you want your child to keep a British structure but also pick up Portuguese properly, this is one of the few schools nearby that offers both side by side. A visit is the best way to see whether it feels right for your child.
From St. Julian's 'School Fees Academic Year 2026/27' booklet, linked on its fee page (checked 22 October 2026). Fees can be paid yearly or termly; Year 13 is billed for two terms only. Personal accident insurance is included. Lunch is extra: an annual pass costs €1,209 (Nursery–Year 1), €1,459 (Year 2–12 and 1º–9º ano) or €1,017 (Year 13). The school bus costs €3,294–€4,092 a year round trip, depending on the zone. Siblings get 15% off for a third child and 25% for further children, and there is a 1% discount if the annual invoice is paid in June 2026.
